By | Blog | One Comment

In the blink of an eye half the year has almost past us! Lots of exciting things going on for our business! This year ROC Paper Scissors has signed contract with Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and is now part of the Martha Stewart American Made Market on E-bay! Handpicked by Martha and the team at Martha Stewart Living, the  American Made Market spotlights and celebrates the American makers, products and personal stories that have inspired them. I am so honored to have been asked to join this Market and have an opportunity to come into the homes of 66 million subscribers! Stay tuned for all kinds of emails, social media, and editorial integration on the Martha Stewart websites and in their magazines that they will implement to highlight and celebrate us, as an American Maker!!! I feel  JUST as honored  for the past couple  of years be a guest on Daytime TV  Show hosted by Jerry Penacoli and Cyndi Edwards. This time my “Card Making Alumni” ( Jerry and Cyndi) were putting together a Mother’s Day version of a card I made for the Valentines Day of 2012 on The Martha Stewart Show. It has had such a great response I figured…why…

NICU Footprints-Paper Art and Burlap Frame

By | Blog | No Comments

Some of you may know that my husband and I became grandparents  last February. Our oldest son and his precious bride-to-be gave birth to fraternal twins weighing @ 2lbs and 10 oz, four days shy of their 28 weeks of gestation. Obviously given how tiny they were, they were to spend till their due-date (May 5) in the NICU. After many many weeks of prayer, our little  miracles were finally able to leave the hospital. During their stay, one of the sweet NICU nurses was sure to keep tabs of their footprints and weight till  the day they could finally come home. She would use the back of clinic cards to faithfully and lovingly keep tabs for the busy new mommy and daddy. Suffice to say, the past year for all of us just got twice as busy. Almost a year later we decided it was finally time to salvage and put together a memory of just how miraculous the whole time in the NICU was for all our family. Here are pictures of the work the nurse and Brittany (our new mommy) so faithfully logged for the twins.      Brittany brought each one of the little footprints carefully placed in two…

Our NEW Product for Baby Shower or Nursery

By | Blog | One Comment

We are excited to offer our newest product based on our very own and original ” New Arrival Baby Cards” ® These baby cards  have been available for years on our website.  In case you are new to us and our beautiful  creations and are trying to figure out what I’m talking about, just enjoy the refresher below: They are aprox. 7 inch cards and sell for 9.99. Our customers have purchased them in the past and have shadowboxed them giving them at baby shower’s as a beautiful piece of  small artwork  for a nursery. For many many years I have cut out very large sized images used for decor in teachers classrooms, small temporary bedroom projects. Since the shelf life was very short and seasonal I never worried about creating something that would last a little longer than a Holiday season on a teacher’s bulletin board….till recently. We are now paper crafting on steroids. I have had various new mommy’s requests to make  for them larger paper crafted items-much,much larger than our 12 x12 inch Custom Cards  to put in their newest additions room.  So the fun begins. Here is a photo collection our ventures in this very new arena of…

THE RACE TO THE 2013 MARTHA STEWART AMERICAN MADE FINALS IS ON!!

By | Blog | One Comment

With voting ending on September 22nd at 11:59 pm, you can say the heat is on for many of us who want to finish at our BEST! This year my participation in American Made has been, like any good marathon, very different, challenging, with it’s  highs and lows. Yesterday, all the participants of American Made received e-mail notifying us all, that there were some votes that had been disqualified. This was devastating for at least 5 businesses  that I can see, were in the race for the top 20. For others like me, it was the “bump we needed” to give us a hope . Even though the top lead numbers are high, and unless our whole city comes together,  it’s going to be hard ( but never impossible) to beat. I am giving it my BEST shot at trying to finish in the top 10 in the Craft Category. Many of us feel like the little engine that could or like David defeating Goliath at times, but faith, family, friends and an unresolved determination to believe in these God given gifts have catapulted and stretched us once again beyond what we thought we could ever do. Being a part…

Wedding Card Featured on Daytime TV Show

By | Blog | One Comment

Hey Everyone! Hope you enjoyed our segment with Jerry Penacoli and Cyndi Edwards on the Daytime TV Show, which aired today. Here are the materials and instructions for this very simple yet elegant design for a card for someone who is getting married. You could even use it as a design for invitations if you wanted it’s an inexpensive yet elegant looking design. Materials: 1. PAPER: Red glittered paper (for the small heart between the doves) A printed damask design in grays. Black and white can look really nice as well. Cut at approx 7 inches long x 3.5 inches. Three 7 inch x 1 inch wide strips of paper. I used Black and Bazzil Stormy and Smoky for the grays. The whole idea is to create an ombre (faded from light to dark effect) 2.GLUE: Martha Stewart Glue stick and Glue pen 3. PUNCHES: Martha Stewart Confetti Heart and Vintage Dove 4. Flat-back crystals or pearls 5. Pop-dots (adhesives) When gluing the strips I went from the lightest to the darkest on the bottom. The lighter shade always glued on top of the darker one. Punch your doves but be careful if you are using textured paper to flip…

Thank You to the MSLO Family

[threecol_one]What an honor it has been, and fun as well these past three (3) years to be, even in a small way, a part of the 7 year Emmy Award Winning Martha Stewart Show. Sadly as I write this, the studios are dark and many have been relocated to other positions or have already had their last day at the office.  [/threecol_one] [threecol_two_last][/threecol_two_last] So I dedicate this blog to all the people of the Martha Stewart Show. The experience has helped me as a business owner and to grow as an artist.  It has afforded a wonderful opportunity to be exposed to some incredibly talented people and has pushed my creative limits to a place where not even the sky is the limit.  I have dared to dream, seen some come true, and I’m so excited that I’ll not be stopping anytime soon. [threecol_two] [/threecol_two] [threecol_one_last]In a weird way I think it is my way of grieving and giving this amazing ride in my life some kind of closure as well.  There will be ways to stay in touch with the very special people I’ve come to know and love, however the family camaraderie as we once knew it, will likely be a thing of the past as each one must continue in their separate journeys.  With the last-minute request to…
